For my birthday in December, my mom and I took a much needed vacation. We stayed at the all – inclusive Hyatt Zilara Cancún, and it was by far one of the most relaxing vacations I’ve ever experienced. I was excited to brush up on my Spanish, because the last time we visited was over 10 years ago.
During the first few days, we relaxed in cabanas by the pool, sipped on tamarind margaritas (highly recommend), and ate at Maria Marie, the resort’s authentic Mexican restaurant (ask for the vanilla soufflé; pictured below).
My favorite part of the trip was our sightseeing excursion. Our first stop was the Cenote, a natural sink hole made up of fresh water. When I entered and made my way down its winding stairs, I was amazed by the fabulous landscape and lush greenery formed over the centuries.
Can you believe I dived into and swam in this breathtaking water? It’s a geological depression formed more than 10,000 years ago! I’m hooked and can’t wait to visit another one.
Afterwards, we traveled to Chichen Itza, one of the new seven wonders of the world. It is also the most developed of all the Mayan ruins. The giant scale of the monuments and their precise astronomical calculation make them awe inspiring!
Afterwards, our tour guide drove us to an authentic Mexican restaurant. We sipped on water straight from the coconut and were entertained by locals engaging in their cultural festivities. The next few days entailed eating, sleeping by the beach, and getting massages and facials at the hotel’s spa.
Needless to say, I’ll definitely be back to Mexico. Liked any of the outfits you saw? Keep your eyes peeled for a lookbook of all my vacation outfits. My next dream destinations are Bora Bora, Greece, and Israel. Do you have the travel bug, and where are you itching to go? Comment below!
